NORTH BALTIMORE, Ohio (AP) - CSX Transportation says it has finished off a $43 million expansion of its rail cargo hub in northwestern Ohio.
The company says the project in North Baltimore south of Toledo was completed several years earlier than it expected.
CSX’s hub that opened about four years ago connects freight moving between the Midwest and East Coast.
The Courier newspaper (https://bit.ly/1EgM0pX ) in Findlay reports that the expansion will allow CSX to more efficiently handle the longer trains that are coming into the yard.
The rail yard’s manager says moving cargo from the West Coast to Detroit, Cleveland, Cincinnati and Columbus now takes as little as four or five days as opposed to the nine-day trips in years past.
