DENVER (AP) - A Denver police officer hit by a car during a student protest says he never stopped fighting for his life despite critical injuries that kept him in the hospital for more than two months.
Officer John Adsit says in a video released by the police department that he doesn’t remember the Dec. 3 crash. He and three other officers were struck as they monitored a student protest over police killings nationwide. The driver apparently suffered a seizure.
Adsit says he went into a dream-like state where he was given opportunities to give up but refused. He says it was a battle from the beginning.
Adsit was released from a hospital last month. He suffered broken bones, a punctured lung, a severed artery in his leg, internal bleeding and other injuries.
