MORRISON, Colo. (AP) - A highway in the foothills west of Denver remains closed after a rockslide between Morrison and Kittridge.

The Colorado Department of Transportation said crews were waiting until daylight Monday to complete mitigation work after boulders the size of small cars tumbled onto Colorado 74 on Sunday.

Mitigation work often includes prying loose boulders from cliffs that could eventually fall on their own.

No cars were hit and no injuries were reported in Sunday’s slide, which occurred at about 11 a.m.

Geologists and engineers were called in to assess the damage.
