JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Florida is investigating a Jacksonville dentist after numerous complaints from parents who say their children were mistreated.

Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi’s office said on Thursday that it had opened a criminal investigation to look into the claims against dentist Howard Schneider.

Parent Brandi Motley says her 6-year-old daughter suffered a fractured nose and bruised neck after Schneider pulled seven teeth instead of the one that was planned.

Other parents made similar charges, saying their kids went in to have teeth removed and came out with many more gone.

Schneider told the Florida Times-Union (https://bit.ly/1HVEfrf ) that he has not mistreated children and denied the allegations.

He has had two cases of medical malpractice filed against him previously. Both were dismissed after mediation, one with a settlement.
