ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) - A former Anderson police officer has been arrested and accused of inappropriately touching a woman. .

The State Law Enforcement Division said in a statement that 42-year-old Lawyer Scott II is charged with assault and battery and misconduct in office.

The warrant says the inappropriate touching was recorded on video at a recreation center in Anderson on March 16.

Scott turned himself into the Anderson County jail Thursday.

Scott was fired Monday.

His attorney, Druanne White, said the charges are “absolutely ridiculous” and he will be cleared.

Scott had been with the police department since February 2013 and had worked as a school resource officer at several schools.

Police Chief Jim Stewart says there is no indication of any problems with Scott at the schools.
