COLLINSVILLE, Okla. (AP) - The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says homicide is suspected after a body was found in the trunk of a car that was pulled from the Caney River near Collinsville.

OHP Trooper Leonard McMillan told reporters that a truck driver reported the car in the river Friday morning and that an initial search of the vehicle while it was still in the water found no one inside.

However, McMillan says the body was discovered in the car’s trunk after it was pulled from water and that the Rogers County Sheriff’s Office is now in charge of the investigation.

No name or gender of the body was released.

McMillan said it appears the car was intentionally driving into the river.
