PAWTUCKET, R.I. (AP) - Officials in Rhode Island evacuated a fire scene after they discovered what appeared to be a hand grenade.

The Times reports (https://bit.ly/1dzKq9j ) the fire occurred inside Lucky Laundry, a one-story brick building on York Avenue in Pawtucket. Fire officials say the blaze appeared to have started in an industrial dryer. Fire personnel found the grenade on a shelf about 10 feet from the dryer.

Emergency personnel initially didn’t know if the grenade was live since the safety pin was in the device. The bomb squad determined that it was a replica and not an explosive.
