LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - Several major school construction projects across Lafayette Parish are on track to be completed in time for the new school year.

The school district’s facilities director Kyle Bordelon tells The Advocate (https://bit.ly/1zyEgR4) ongoing projects to create additional space for the growing student populations at Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy, Lindon Elementary and Alleman Middle schools are on schedule.

The projects are part of a more than $30 million bond sale that included new construction and renovations at a total of six schools.

The biggest is a $9 million project at Thibodaux STEM. Bordelon says six additional classrooms as well as a new engineering lab should be complete by late May or early June. There is also a $3 million project on a new larger cafeteria at Alleman Middle.
