LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - The Lafayette Parish School Board has delayed contract negotiations with newly hired superintendent Don Aguillard (AG’-ee-ahrd).

The Advertiser reports (https://bit.ly/1JErMKQ) Board President Tommy Angelle had hoped to call a special meeting for Friday to talk about contract terms and negotiations, but the expected absences of two board members caused Angelle to postpone the meeting.

Angelle said talks are instead scheduled to begin on Wednesday.

He said Aguillard is still scheduled to begin working in Lafayette Parish on May 18.

The school board voted unanimously on April 22 to hire Aguillard, who is currently the superintendent in St. Mary Parish.
