DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) - A former aide at the Handicapped Development Center in Davenport has been sentenced for sexually abusing a resident last year.

The Quad-City Times (https://bit.ly/1JE8vZP ) reports 24-year-old Tyshon M. VanBlue was sentenced Wednesday to up to 10 years in prison. VanBlue must register as a sex offender for life and will be under lifetime supervision when he is released from prison.

VanBlue was arrested Aug. 22 and charged with abusing the resident multiple times over the past year. The resident, because of a mental handicap, cannot legally give consent.

VanBlue pleaded guilty in March to one count of third-degree sexual abuse.
