ATLANTA (AP) - Leaders of Georgia’s Republican Party say state Rep. Harry Geisinger of Roswell has died.

Party officials said in a statement Friday that Geisinger died after a long battle with leukemia. Georgia Republican Party Chairman John Padgett called Geisinger a principled public servant and praised him for his hard work and integrity.

Geisinger served from 1969 to 1974 and was sworn in a second time in 2005. According to his website, Geisinger was a Navy veteran and earned a bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of Cincinnati in 1975.

Officials say a visitation will be held May 8 at Northside Chapel in Roswell and begins at 6 p.m. Geisinger’s funeral is scheduled for May 9 at 2 p.m. at the chapel.

Geisinger represented District 48 in the state House.
