LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a car has plunged off a Long Beach road into the Los Angeles River, killing three teenagers.

It happened shortly after 4 a.m. Friday in Long Beach.

Authorities say the car may have been speeding on Anaheim Street near a freeway offramp when it went off a bridge and landed on its roof next to the water in the riverbed.

The dead are identified as 17-year-old Alicia Yanonis and 19-year-olds Fabian Cazares Garcia Jr. and Armando Herrera. All were from Long Beach.

A man believed to be in his 20s was injured and taken to a hospital with moderate injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
