BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - LSU head basketball coach Johnny Jones says he has added former Mississippi and Tennessee assistant Al Pinkins to the Tigers’ coaching staff.

The 42-year-old Pinkins was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Tennessee this past season and held the same position at Ole Miss from 2011 to 2014.

Jones says Pinkins’ experience in the Southland Conference and as a recruiter made him an attractive candidate

A former player at North Carolina State in the mid-1990s, Pinkins played professionally overseas in Spain, Qatar and China before beginning his coaching career.

Before joining Mississippi’s staff, he spent eight years as an assistant with Middle Tennessee State.
