CLEVELAND (AP) - A northeast Ohio man charged with dumping tons of garbage in a Cleveland factory has been sentenced to three years in prison.

The Ohio Attorney General’s Office says the sentence issued Thursday in Cuyahoga (ky-uh-HOH’-guh) County for Christopher Gattarello will be stayed pending the outcome of a separate but related federal case against him.

An attorney for the 52-year-old Mayfield Heights man declined to comment Friday. Authorities say he owned garbage-hauling businesses.

The attorney general says Gattarello and two businesses pleaded guilty to charges including illegal open dumping and operating a solid waste landfill without a license. They were ordered to clean up two sites where garbage was dumped and pay a combined fine of $100,000.
