BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Police say a 22-year-old Birmingham man was shot to death in his car following some kind of argument.

Al.com reports (https://bit.ly/1FCO514 ) that the Jefferson County coroner’s office identified the man as Corey Alexander Smith.

Police say officers were dispatched shortly after 10:30 p.m. Thursday on a report of a person shot just south of Jefferson State Community College. When they arrived, they sound Smith dead in the vehicle. Smith was pronounced dead by Birmingham Fire and Rescue at 10:52 p.m.

Birmingham police spokesman Lt. Sean Edwards said witnesses heard arguing followed by gunfire. A man was seen getting out of the car and running away.

Police did not immediately make any arrests.
