PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - The South Dakota Highway Patrol says it is targeting 14 counties with sobriety checkpoints in May.

The monthly checkpoints are done as a way to discourage people from drinking and driving.

The counties scheduled for sobriety checkpoints in May are: Bennett, Brown, Charles Mix, Codington, Edmunds, Hughes, Jerald, Minnehaha, Moody, Pennington, Roberts, Spink, Tripp and Yankton.
