TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Tucson police say there’s been a second instance of spikes being been found sticking up from manhole covers.

The latest instance and the first one several months ago occurred at separate locations on the city’s east side.

At least two cars had tire damage from driving over spikes in the latest instance.

Sgt. Pete Dugan says the spikes are dangerous because a vehicle could veer and hit something or someone if a tire is punctured.

Dugan says the person responsible could face misdemeanor or felony charges, partly depending on the amount of damage caused.
