SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - A Springfield man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and driving while drunk in connection with a fatal scooter crash.

The Springfield News-Leader (https://sgfnow.co/1JFhiL9 ) reports 53-year-old Jeffrey D. Anderson was charged Wednesday. Police say Anderson and 54-year-old passenger Brenda Roy were riding a motor scooter on Jan. 31, when it was struck from behind by a pickup truck. Roy’s head hit the truck during the accident and later died at a hospital.

According to a probable cause statement, witnesses said the scooter had no working lights and Anderson was using a hand-held flashlight as a headlight. Anderson registered a 0.19 percent blood alcohol content level during a breathalyzer test. The limit is 0.08 percent.

Prosecutors have asked for Anderson’s bond to be set at $50,000. It wasn’t immediately clear if he has an attorney.
