HAMILTON, Mont. (AP) - The number of elk in the Bitterroot Valley of western Montana continues to grow.

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks biologist Rebecca Mowry counted more than 8,000 elk in the valley and surrounding mountains during a five-week period this year.

Last year, she counted about 7,400 during the same time.

Mowry tells the Ravalli Republic (https://bit.ly/1cmT8XJ ) that she spotted a good number of very nice bull elk in some areas.
