TULSA, Okla. (AP) - A flash flood warning is in effect for parts of eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas as thunderstorms move into the area.

The National Weather Service says thunderstorms with very heavy rain moved into the region Sunday morning. Between 2 and 5 inches of rainfall has already fallen on the area and up to 3 more inches are possible. Forecasters say flash flooding will likely occur quickly due to the saturated conditions.

In addition, a tornado watch is in effect until 4 p.m. for eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas. Forecasters say additional thunderstorms are expected to develop later this afternoon and evening along a cold front that will move through the region. The atmosphere is expected to destabilize enough to result in the potential for severe thunderstorms - including possible tornadoes.
