LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Petit Jean River at Danville in Yell County.

Forecasters say heavy rain in the area Sunday has swollen the river to near its banks. The river’s flood stage is 20 feet and at 3:45 p.m. Sunday the river’s stage was 18 feet. Officials say minor flooding is forecast as the river rises above flood stage Sunday night and reaches a predicted crest of 21.2 feet by Monday morning.

The flood warning will remain in effect through Wednesday afternoon.

Forecasters say anyone with property along streams and rivers should remain alert to changes in the weather forecast. River forecasts are based on current conditions and rainfall forecasts for the next 18 hours.
