MARKSVILLE, La. (AP) - Louisiana wildlife officers have booked a Marksville man on charges related to an investigation into the theft of money from the self-pay camping site on Spring Bayou Wildlife Management Area in Avoyelles Parish.

Wildlife officials say in a news release that 19-year-old Barry Ray Laiche II was booked Friday on five counts of theft and 15 counts of violating rules and regulations on a WMA. He is being held in the parish jail.

Wildlife officials say over the last month, a surveillance camera showed someone taking money out of the self-pay box multiple times.

Wildlife officials say officers set up surveillance on the self-pay site and saw Laiche remove envelopes from the self-pay box. Agents apprehended Laiche on his way back to his truck.
