ELIZABETH, N.J. (AP) - A northern New Jersey man has been indicted in a street shooting last year that left one man dead and another wounded.

Jihad Holmes, of Elizabeth, faces murder and attempted murder charges in the indictment handed up by a Union County grand jury.

County prosecutors say the Sept. 15 shooting occurred in the area of Bond and Jackson streets in Elizabeth.

Police found Michael Gibbs, a 32-year-old Beverly resident, and an Elizabeth man had both been wounded. Gibbs died a short time later at a hospital, but the other victim has recovered.

Holmes was arrested in January and his bail was set at $1.5 million. A telephone number for him could not be located Sunday, and it wasn’t known if he has retained an attorney.
