ST. LOUIS (AP) - Investigators of a fatal St. Louis shooting that spared a baby escaped injury when a vehicle fleeing from officers after a rolling gunfight sped through the crime scene and slammed into police cruisers.

Authorities say that in the initial shooting Sunday night, 24-year-old Ricky Robinson of Florissant was found dead in a car in which the baby was found unhurt in the back seat.

Police say that as detectives were investigating that shooting, a patrol officer nearby saw someone firing from one vehicle at another and gave chase.

That suspect’s fleeing vehicle hit four unoccupied police cars at the scene where Robinson died, and the driver was arrested after a foot chase.

There was no word Monday on charges against that driver or a possible motive in Robinson’s shooting death.
