GEISMAR, La. (AP) - Authorities say the body of a teenager who drowned in a Geismar subdivision’s pond was recovered several hours after he disappeared.

Multiple news outlets report the Ascension Parish Boat Patrol and the Gonzales Dive Team found the body of 17-year-old Malcolm Calloway, of Sunshine, Sunday night in a Parks of Dutchtown subdivision pond near the area where Calloway and his friends first dived in.

Deputies say Calloway was visiting a friend who lives in the subdivision when the two decided to go swimming. Calloway disappeared underwater around 4 p.m. and never resurfaced.

Authorities say the pond is about 16 feet at its deepest point.
