SEATTLE (AP) - Transportation officials say a concrete spill on Interstate 5 in Seattle is slowing southbound traffic toward downtown and blocking the exit at NE 65th Street.

Officials were advising rush hour commuters to consider other routes into work on Monday morning.

The concrete spill happened just after 7:30 a.m. and the Washington State Department of Transportation expects cleanup will take time.

DOT spokesman Mike Allende says there is debris across the roadway but only one lane is completely blocked.

Allende says the concrete is a wet mix of sand, mud and rocks and is mostly in the right lane and the ramp to N.E. 65th St.

Officials did not see the spill happen and did not have details about how it happened.
