KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Police say a Maryville College student from Belgium has drowned in a Knoxville quarry.

WBIR-TV (https://on.wbir.com/1zVIFxE) cited police in reporting on Sunday that the victim was 20-year-old exchange student Tijl Werbrouck.

Knoxville Fire Department spokesman Capt. DJ Corcoran said divers responded to a report on Saturday evening of a man who had jumped into the water from the tallest cliff of the Blount Avenue Quarry at Fort Dickerson Park and never resurfaced. He said the body was recovered about five hours after the search began.

According to the station, it is the third death this year at the quarry.
