CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Police say a driver is in critical condition after being mistakenly shot in a drive-by incident in north Charleston and four people have been detained.

The Post and Courier of Charleston (https://bit.ly/1KWvb5E ) reports officers were called into the area early Sunday morning after several people called in reports of two vehicles chasing each other and shooting.

Police spokesman Spencer Pryor says the cars were a Chrysler 300 and possibly a Blue Saturn Vue. The Saturn observed an unrelated Chrysler 300 and fired four rounds into the driver’s side door and window, hitting the driver once.

Officers say they were able to stop the original Chrysler and detained four people. It is unknown if they have been charged.
