PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Gas prices in Rhode Island continue to rise, but they’re still much lower than they were last year.

In its weekly survey released Monday, AAA Northeast says it found the price of regular gas had risen 4 cents a gallon from last week, to $2.64.

That’s 2 cents less than the national average of $2.66 per gallon.

Prices last year at this time were 40 percent higher than they are now.

Last year, gas was $1.06 more expensive per gallon in Rhode Island, at $3.70 on average.
