WALNUT CREEK, Calif. (AP) - A 74-year-old hiker is recovering from a fall on Mount Diablo that required rescuers to airlift her to safety.

The Contra Costa Times reports (https://bayareane.ws/1cIzV3q) the woman fell Sunday afternoon on the eastern side of the summit in a rugged, remote area.

A California Highway Patrol helicopter lifted her out and landed nearby, where she was transferred to an air ambulance and taken to the hospital.

Her injuries were not specified.
