SYDNEY (AP) - Melissa Hudson has been recalled to Australia’s squad to make a fourth trip to the women’s World Cup, which kicks off next month in Canada.

The 35-year-old Hudson, who played the last of her 84 international matches in 2012, is one of three goalkeepers selected in the 23-player squad along with Washington-based Lydia Williams and MacKenzie Arnold, who was voted best goalkeeper in the national league.

The squad includes 10 players who will be making a debut at the World Cup, and 18 members of the squad which finished as runner-up in the 2014 Asian Cup.

Australia, which is in Group D with the United States, Sweden and Nigeria, opens its campaign against the No. 2-ranked Americans at Winnipeg on June 8.

Katrina Gorry, the Asian Football Confederation’s player of the year, will be among the Australians on debut at the World Cup.

Ellyse Perry, who has played cricket and soccer for Australia at the highest level, was not available for selection after missing much of the W-League season through injury.

Australia coach Alen Stajcic said the Matildas squad would go into the tournament with an attacking mindset.

“It’s a dynamic, mobile team that can attack and score goals,” Stajcic said. “It is a team that has lots of variations in attack so I believe we can cause a threat to any team in the world, and the players that were picked were certainly picked with that in mind.”
