PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - Federal prosecutors say a Westbrook man will spend nine years in prison for transporting child pornography and making extortion threats.

Court records say 51-year-old Michael Van Eekhout posed under a fake name online and persuaded a woman to send him nude photographs of herself in 2011. Prosecutors say he then threatened to “widely disseminate” the photos unless she took explicit photos of herself and sent them to him.

Prosecutors say Van Eekhout also sent an undercover federal agent a digital picture of a nude pre-pubescent girl in June 2014. They say he admitted to sending the photograph during the execution of a search warrant at his home the following month.

Van Eekhout pleaded guilty in January. He will also serve five years of supervised release.
