PITTSBURGH (AP) - A Pittsburgh man has been jailed on charges he fatally shot another man who was making a Mother’s Day visit when he was gunned down.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for 19-year-old Brett Terry who was arrested by an officer who heard the gunfire and saw him a short distance away.

Police say Terry shot 26-year-old Jamar Thomas several times as he walked from the rear to the front of a house he was visiting about 7 p.m. Sunday.

Police say Terry raised his hands to surrender as the officer responded to the gunfire. Police say Terry threw the gun behind a vehicle and police later determined the men had argued before the shooting.

Terry was awaiting arraignment Monday on charges including criminal homicide.
