DENVER (AP) - Police in Englewood have arrested a man accused of killing and dismembering his fiancee’s mother and dumping her body.

The Denver Post reports (https://goo.gl/knkijE ) 32-year-old John Brant was arrested Saturday and charged with second-degree murder in the Feb. 21 death of 55-year-old Jacqueline Degarmo. Investigators say he told them he was “pushed” into the crime because Degarmo threatened to shoot him and his fiancee with a BB gun.

Degarmo was reported missing April 24, and her body was found wrapped in a tarp in Clear Creek County on May 3. Her head and hands had been removed.

Investigators say Brant told them he is not a violent person and never thought anything like this would happen to him. Booking documents do not indicate if he has hired an attorney.
