PHOENIX (AP) - A man sought in the fatal shooting of a 12-year-old Illinois boy has been arrested in Arizona.

The U.S. Marshals Service says 20-year-old Steson Crider was arrested Sunday in Mesa, Arizona.

According to the Marshals Service, Crider fled Illinois after March 28 killing in Quincy, Illinois, of Rayshone Humphrey Jr.

The boy’s father has said his son was mistakenly targeted for wearing a hooded sweatshirt similar to one worn by a bar fight participant.

Marshals Service spokeswoman Amelia Swenhaugen said Crider is from Illinois but recently arrived in Arizona where he has family in Chandler but was staying a hotel in Mesa when arrested.
