VIRGINIA, Minn. (AP) - A northern Minnesota man is charged with second-degree murder in the beating death of a 59-year-old man last week.

Thirty-nine-year-old Michael Henry Richard Daufelt of Virginia was charged Monday in St. Louis County court.

According to the complaint, police were called Wednesday evening and found the victim, identified as David Super of Virginia. Super was dead when officers and paramedics arrived.

An autopsy found Super’s injuries included a broken rib, a collapsed lung and a broken sternum. The preliminary cause of death was multiple blunt force trauma.

Daufelt was later arrested. He told investigators that he had been staying at Super’s apartment for a couple of weeks and had head-butted him.
