NEW YORK (AP) - House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi has endorsed New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s campaign against sexual assault on college campuses.

Pelosi and Cuomo spoke Monday at Manhattan’s Fashion Institute of Technology about what the governor calls the nation’s toughest measures against such assaults.

The fashion institute is part of the State University of New York. Staffers in the schools are being trained to deal with students who are attacked so they understand the concept of mutual consent.

Cuomo says only about 5 percent of campus sexual attacks are reported.

Eleven New York private campuses also have joined the campaign - called Enough is Enough - to turn the sexual assault policies into state law.

Congress is considering legislation that would strengthen measures against sexual violence.
