TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - The Arizona Cardinals have signed three players who tried out for the team, including quarterback Phillip Sims.

The other two are safeties Harold Jones-Quartey and Brandon Person. All three are from NCAA Division II schools and tried out for the team at its rookie minicamp over the weekend.

The 6-foot-4. 210-pound Sims, a high school All-American, started his career at Alabama, but transferred to Virginia and finished at Winston-Salem State. Jones-Quartey played for Findlay and Person at Tiffin.

Coach Bruce Arians praised Sims’ passing skills after the first workout. He is the fifth quarterback on the Arizona roster.
