HOUMA, La. (AP) - Terrebonne Parish School Board has set aside $200,000 to install artificial turf at two football stadiums in the school district.

The Courier reports (https://bit.ly/1QBPZm0 ) the board designated the money at Tuesday’s meeting in Houma for turf at Tom B. Smith Stadium at Terrebonne High and at South Terrebonne Memorial Stadium in Bourg.

Sharing of the two stadiums among high school and junior high teams has led to poor field conditions.

Superintendent Philip Martin says installing the turf at both stadiums would cost between $1.3 and $2.4 million.

Martin says although the money has been set aside, he doesn’t expect the turf to be installed by this fall.

In the last two years, stadiums at E.D. White Catholic High and St. James High have installed artificial turf.
