HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - The Pennsylvania Senate has given its approval to four of Gov. Tom Wolf’s cabinet members, the first ones to pass the Republican-controlled chamber.

The four Cabinet members confirmed Monday are Adjutant General James Joseph, Economic and Community Development Secretary Dennis Davin, General Services Secretary Curtis Topper and Transportation Secretary Leslie Richards.

Sixteen other nominees are awaiting confirmation hearings or votes.

Five hearings are slated Tuesday, including the nomination of Pedro Cortes as secretary of state, an office that oversees elections and more than two dozen professional boards. Cortez served as secretary of state during Gov. Ed Rendell’s administration.

No confirmation hearing is scheduled in the Senate Law and Justice Committee for acting State Police Commissioner Marcus Brown. Senate Republicans say they don’t believe Brown has enough votes to win confirmation.
