SPARKS, Nev. (AP) - A 36-year-old Sparks man is being held on $10,000 bail after police say he held a SWAT team at bay at a Sparks apartment complex for more than three hours.

Police say James Sanchez Jr. allegedly told officers he would “shoot it out with them” after he barricaded himself in his apartment early Sunday near Sparks Boulevard and Prater Way.

Police responded to the area after a report of a fight involving a gun. They confronted Sanchez with a .45 caliber handgun at the Willow Creek Villas before calling in the SWAT team.

Sanchez eventually was arrested when he left his apartment. Police found two firearms in the residence.

Sanchez was booked on suspicion of obstructing with the use of a firearm. His initial court appearance has not yet been set.
