HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - Vacancies in state House districts in the Harrisburg suburbs and outside Chester will be filled during special elections scheduled for this summer.

Speaker Mike Turzai on Tuesday announced elections will be held Aug. 4 for the seats held most recently by Rep. Glen Grell of Cumberland County and Rep. Joe Hackett of Delaware County.

The two Republicans resigned their seats at the end of last month.

Grell is taking over as executive director of the Public School Employees’ Retirement System. Hackett says he plans to return to police work, where he spent his career before being elected to the Legislature.

The parties will pick candidates for the special election.
