PITTSBURGH (AP) - Pittsburgh police say they’ve made an arrest after a woman was attacked outside a bar, dragged to a church property and raped and beaten unconscious.

Yancey Murphy is charged with sexual assault, aggravated assault, aggravated indecent and other offenses in the attack early Sunday in the city’s Hill District.

The 45-year-old Murphy is jailed in lieu of $1 million bail pending a May 19 preliminary hearing. Online court records did not list a lawyer who could comment on the charges.

Police say Murphy put a belt around the woman’s neck as she was leaving the bar around 2 a.m.

They say a witness heard the woman’s screams and saw Murphy in the bushes on church property around 5 a.m.

Police say they found the belt and the victim’s clothing nearby.
