YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a construction worker was fatally injured when a floor collapsed on him as he worked in the basement of a building under renovation in Ypsilanti.

The accident happened about 11:45 a.m. Monday at the Thompson Block.

Joyce Williams of Huron Valley Ambulance tells The Ann Arbor News (https://bit.ly/1bKK7ar ) that the man died Monday afternoon at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. His name wasn’t immediately released.

Ypsilanti fire Capt. Dan Cain says four men were in the basement clearing space for an excavator when the first floor collapsed. Cain says the other three escaped uninjured.
