TROY, Mich. (AP) - The organizer of a collectibles show says more than $100,000 in historic political campaign pins and other items have been stolen from a suburban Detroit hotel.

Ken Hosner, a retired history teacher from Kalamazoo, tells The Detroit News (https://bit.ly/1K30HB8 ) he loaded up eight display tables with items in a locked ballroom on Friday night. He says he noticed the theft when he returned before the show opened Saturday morning.

Troy Police Capt. Robert Redmond says an investigator has been assigned the case.

Hosner says he’s done shows for decades without problems. Still, he says he “should have known better than to set this up the night before.”

About 35 dealers showed collectibles Saturday. Hosner says another dealer who set up the night before reported about $500 in silver spoons stolen.
