BANGOR, Maine (AP) - A Hancock County man has been sent to prison for 10 years after the laptop he sent in for repairs was found to have sexually explicit photos and videos of children on it.

John Tapley was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court in Bangor after pleading guilty in December to a charge of possession of child pornography.

The 58-year-old Sedgwick man brought his laptop in January 2013 to an Ellsworth computer repair shop, where a technician found the images and alerted police.

Police executing a search warrant found multiple pornographic images and videos of children, along with evidence that Tapley sent images to another man online.

Tapley, a registered sex offender, has two prior convictions for unlawful sexual conduct.
