LAFAYETTE, N.Y. (AP) - A 32-year-old upstate New York woman has been charged with driving while intoxicated and vehicular manslaughter in connection with a fatal interstate crash.

Onondaga County Sheriff’s deputies say 58-year-old Bruce Ham of West Orange, New Jersey was killed Friday when his vehicle was struck head-on by a Ford Escape driven by Amy Dell, who was traveling north in the southbound lanes of Interstate 81 just south of Syracuse.

Dell, of Rome, suffered minor injuries in the crash. The victim died at the scene.

Dell, who also faces a charge of aggravated unlicensed operation, was arraigned Monday in Town of LaFayette Court and sent to the county jail on $500,000 cash bail. She’s scheduled to re-appear in court on Wednesday.

It could not immediately be determined if Dell has a lawyer.
