ASTORIA, Ore. (AP) - An Astoria man who was accused of raping a 10-year-old girl last year has been sentenced to 50 years in prison.

The Daily Astorian reports (https://bit.ly/1JhaMHd ) Nicolas Blas Martinez received the sentence on Friday in Clatsop County Circuit Court.

Prosecutors said the girl’s mother came home to find the 31-year-old Martinez sexually assaulting her daughter. Martinez was a family friend.

Court records show Martinez had raped the girl on more than one occasion. He was indicted last July for 13 counts of rape, 11 counts of sex abuse and one count of tampering with physical evidence.

After Martinez pleaded no contest to two counts of first-degree rape and two counts of first-degree sex abuse, the remaining charges were dropped.
