LISBON, Portugal (AP) - Benfica rolled to a 5-0 rout at Gil Vicente on Saturday to stay on track to repeating as Portuguese league champion.

Maxi Pereira put the defending champion on its way in the 14th minute, and he added another goal to cap the demolition after Jonas, Luisao and Lima all scored.

Benfica opened a six-point gap over second-place FC Porto before it visits Setubal on Sunday. After that, there will be three rounds left.

Also, Sporting Lisbon beat Nacional 2-0 thanks to Fredy Montero’s double to clinch a third-place finish and a spot in the Champions League qualifying rounds.
