BENTON, La. (AP) - The Bossier Parish sheriff says a Benton man is in jail after authorities found stolen explosives in his home.

Deputies arrested 55-year-old James R. McDearmont on Thursday after his wife called and said he had pointed a loaded gun at her head and threatened to kill her.

Sheriff Julian Whittington says in a news release that McDearmont is charged with domestic abuse aggravated assault, unlawful storage of explosives, reckless use of explosives and two counts of illegal possession of stolen things. It was not immediately clear Saturday whether McDearmont has an attorney.

The sheriff says McDearmont told investigators that he had gotten explosive devices and materials from his current and previous employers in the oil and gas industry.
